Salem Man Facing Drug Charges Following OUI Crash

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Tuesday, Jan. 22:

  • At 5:31 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of James Ayube Bypass Road and Bridge Street.
  • At 6:11 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of James Ayube Bypass Road and Bridge Street.
  • At 8:02 p.m., police responded to a report of an attempted car break-in on Canal Street. Edwin E. Ostolaza, 26, of 79 Aborn St., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 8:35 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Planters Street. Joseph F. Perreault will be summonsed to court on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
  • At 10:08 p.m., police responded to a report of a man banging on the back door of the Howling Wolf Taqueria on Lafayette Street. The man was later located by police and placed into protective custody. He said he was just trying to ask for a cigarette.
  • At 10:26 p.m., police were alerted to an erratic operator on Loring Avenue. Thomas J. Angelo, 55, of 73 Almont St., Haverhill, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Wednesday, Jan. 23:

  • At 12:31 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle at the intersection of North and Franklin streets. Derrick Patterson, 21, of 108 Linden St., Everett, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 12:49 a.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Loring Avenue. The vehicles were reportedly parked in the parking lot of the nearby Tedeschi Food Mart. Steven D. Paris, 38, of 6 Orne Square, Salem, was arrested on a charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, three counts of possession of a class B substance (Suboxone, Xanax [light blue], cocaine), three counts of possessing a class E substance with intent to distribute (Opana, Gabapentin, Xanax [dark blue]) and receiving stolen property valued below $250 (prescription medication).
  • At 8:06 a.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors on Naumkeag Street.
  • At 8:10 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Canal Street.
  • At 8:17 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Bridge and St. Peter streets.
  • At 10:39 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Winthrop Street.
  • At 12:30 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Canal Street and Broadway.
  • At 12:54 p.m., police received word that a vehicle had been egged while parked overnight on Essex Street.
  • At 3:15 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Valley Street.
