UPDATED: Alleged Assault Reported at Saltonstall

The responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday, May 9

4:36 p.m. — A person on Jackson Street reported 10 pallets were stolen from the back of a truck on Jackson Street.

5:27 p.m. — A man asking for money was reported on Pearl Street. Police said they advised him to stop asking people for money.

5:33 p.m. — Police responded to Traders Way on a report there were unattended children in a car. Police said the car was gone on arrival.

6:29 p.m. – People panhandling were reported on Wharf Street.

8:25 p.m. — A suspicious person in the middle of Palmer Street was reported to police.

9:14 p.m. — Police said a man screaming in the hall was reported on Salem Street. The man was advised to lower the volume of his voice, police said.

9:15 p.m. — A loud band was reported on Canal Street.

11:27 p.m. — Police said they received a call a person threw a beer bottle on Jefferson Avenue.

Thursday, May 10

12:25 a.m. — A person reportedly punched the bell at New Liberty Street, police said. Police said no one was found in the area. “There was no new damage found to the bell, but there were nicks and scratches on the bell.”

12:47 a.m. — Three loud pops were reported at Marlborough Road and Rockdale Avenue. Police said no problems were found in the area.

12:52 a.m. — A woman yelling for help was reported at Lafayette and Cedar streets. Police said they received a single call from a motorist who said five to 10 minutes prior a woman had been yelling for help. Police were not able to locate anyone yelling.

3:20 a.m. — A person reported he was missing his car. Police said the car had been towed to Swampscott.

6:58 a.m. — Police were called to check on a person sleeping in a doorway.

9:45 a.m. — A tractor trailer holding up traffic was reported at North and Federal streets.

9:59 a.m. — A past break-in to a vehicle was reported on New Liberty Street.

10:01 a.m. — Police spoke to two people in the interview room of the lobby regarding an assault that allegedly took place at on May 7. Police said the assault was allegedly by a teacher.

10:30 a.m. — Threats were reported on Hancock Street. Police said the issue was over threats that allegedly occurred over tickets purchased on Craigslist.

11:05 a.m. — A person in a wheelchair in the middle of the road was reported on Essex Street. The person was told he should drive on the sidewalk.

11:37 a.m. — A dog was found on Foster Street.

1:02 p.m. — A man in the median in a wheelchair was reported at Washington and New Derby streets.

1:03 p.m. — Police said a man soliciting money at on Essex Street was reported.

2:02 p.m. — A woman reported that a man in a red car drove up to her on Webb Street while she was walking her son to school at and asked to give them a ride. The woman declined, and told police the man turned around to drive back toward her and her son after he passed. The woman said the car drove slowly and the man stared at her. The man was described as in his late 40s or early 50s with gray hair.

2:47 p.m. — Past threats were reported on Lafayette Street.

2:46 p.m. — A large snake in a pool house was reported on Ravenna Avenue. Police said they were able to get the snake out of the pool house and back into the woods.

3:34 p.m. — A person running in and out of traffic was reported at Highland Avenue and Mooney Road.

4:09 p.m. — Police said a person passed out in a wheelchair was reported at Washington and New Derby streets.

4:14 p.m. — A man in a wheelchair in a crosswalk was reported at Washington and New Derby streets.

4:27 p.m. — Police said a fight in the dining room was reported at .

Thursday Arrests

Nelson Manual Daterra, 34, of 72 Grove St., was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise.

A 17-year-old was arrested on a charge of assault by a dangerous weapon (a pitchfork). The charges were later dropped.
