100th Anniversary of the Great Salem Fire of 1914

Join the Salem Fire Department and others at the ceremony.

Tomorrow, June 25th, marks the 100th anniversary of the Great Salem Fire of 1914. Mayor Kimberley Driscoll and Fire Chief David Cody invite the public to the 100th Anniversary Commemoration.

The ceremony will begin at 1:15pm with greetings from the city and a moment of silence, at the intersection of Boston Street and Bridge Street. The intersection is the site at which the fire began.

At 4:15pm, there will be a rededication of the 1915 Memorial to the fire that was given to Salem in 1915 on the fire’s first anniversary. The ceremony will take place at Lafayette Park, the site of the Fire Department Engine House 1 that was destroyed in the fire.
