Obituary: Yvette "Memere" Lucienne (Lemelin) Roy, Formerly of Salem

The obituary for Yvette "Memere" Lucienne (Lemelin) Roy, 96, formerly of Salem.

Yvette “Memere” Lucienne (Lemelin) Roy, 96, of Wenham, formerly of Salem, Mass., passed away on April 30, 2014, at the Ledgewood Nursing Home in Beverly. She was the beloved wife of the late Jean-Paul Roy. Born in Quebec, Canada, on August 7, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Leonidas and Virginie (Pelletier) Lemelin. Yvette had been a resident of Salem for 60 years, prior to making her residence in Wenham in 1978.

Yvette was a parishioner of St. Paul's Church in Hamilton and of the former St. Joseph Church in Salem, where she was a member of Les Dames de la Ste. Famille. Mrs. Roy, who was educated in Salem schools, had previously been employed at Flair Dry Cleaners and at Sylvania. She was a devoted mother, sister and grandmother who loved being around the four generations of her family.

Yvette is survived by her daughters, Doris (Roy) Gallant and her husband, Donald, of Wenham, with whom she made her home, and Claudette (Roy) Bean and her husband, James, of Danvers, Mass.; a son, Richard Roy and his wife, Pauline, of Thousand Palms, Calif.; a son-in-law, James Kroitzsh from Hebron, Maine; her grandchildren, Debra (Gallant) Butts, Derek Gallant DC, Darlene (Gallant) Wynne, Darren Gallant, Kevin Roy, Craig Roy, Steven Kroitzsh, Kenneth Kroitzsh, Heather Kroitzsh, Patricia (Bean) Oakland, and Jennifer Bean; her nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth (Lemelin) Chouinard of Salem; and many nieces and nephews. Yvette was predeceased by her daughter, Jean Priscilla (Roy) Kroitzsh; her brothers, Wilfred, Henry, Leo, and Aimee Lemelin; and her sisters, Ida Cardran, Adeline Theriault and Irene George.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St., Route1A/114, Salem, on Friday, May 9, from 3 to 7 p.m., and to a funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem, on Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JDRF, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley Hills, MA 02481, or to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
