Obituary: Madeline (Maddy) Michaud, Lifelong Salem Resident

Here is the obituary for Madeline (Maddy) Michaud.

Madeleine (Maddy) Michaud passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 1 at the Hunt Nursing Home in Danvers after living several years with Alzheimer's Disease. She was lovingly cared for by her family, the staff, and the Compassionate Care Hospice of Danvers. 

Maddy was a lifelong resident of Salem and was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish in Salem where she belonged to Les Dames de la Ste. Famille. She was also a member of the DAV Auxiliary. Maddy worked several years at Shetland Park, Almy's and later for Caldors. She was a loving and caring person who cherished her family. Madeleine loved to knit, crochet, garden, bowl, cook, and spoil her grandchildren. Her smile and love will forever live in our hearts.

Madeleine was married to the late Joseph Alphonse “Teddy” Pelletier in June 1946. She leaves five children, Laurel (Pelletier) Guy of Salem, Phil Pelletier and his wife Aimee of Arlington, TX, Roland Pelletier and his wife Barbara of Beverly, Marc Pelletier and his wife Mary of Danvers, and Patrick Pelletier of Lynn; ten grandchildren, Rebecca (Guy) Standley and her husband Jake, Marlene Guy and her fiancee Scott Fisher, Ryan Guy, Marc Guy, Pauline (Pelletier) Agopsowicz and her husband Douglas, Chloe Pelletier, Joseph Pelletier, Danielle Pelletier, Eric Pelletier, and Amy Pelletier; one great-grandson, Damon Standley; a brother, Richard Boucher and his wife Janice of Salem; a sister, Noella LaChance of Salem; a dear sister-in-law, Rita Labrecque of Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Madeleine remarried in October 1980 to Lionel J. Michaud of Salem and enjoyed many happy years of sailing, travel, and family gatherings until his death in May 2009. From that union she leaves two stepsons, Gary Michaud and his wife Nancy of Napa, CA, and Tom Michaud and his wife Cindy of Edmond, OK, and a step-son-in-law, Don Emilian and his wife Charlene of Wenham and their families. Maddy was the step-mother of the late Paulette (Michaud) Emilian.

Her funeral will be held from the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. (Rt.1A/114) Salem, Thursday at 9am followed by a funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave. Salem at 10am. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 3-7pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 800 Cummings Park, Suite 3100, Woburn, MA 01801.
