Obituary: Evelyn C. (Moroney) Goodridge, 95, of Salem

The obituary for Evelyn C. (Moroney) Goodridge, 95, of Salem.

Mrs. Evelyn Catherine (Moroney) Goodridge 95, of Salem beloved wife of the late Warren B. "Buddy" Goodridge, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, May 14th, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by her family. 

Born in Salem, She was the daughter of the late James B. and Della (Feeney) Moroney. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1936. 

Mrs. Goodridge began her professional career at the former Danvers Bleachery. She matriculated to G.T. E. Sylvania where she began a career that would span over 37 years at the Loring Avenue Plant, retiring in 1982. 

Evelyn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who was a long time faithful member of St. James Parish in Salem. A lifelong resident of the City of Salem,Mrs. Goodridge was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Sylvania. A skilled knitter, known for her baby sweaters, she was a member of the St. James Knitting Group. A member of the Sylvania Women's Golf League, she learned the game and loved the camaraderie. This led to an avid interest in watching PGA Tournaments on Television. Evelyn was happiest when spending time with her family especially preparing and hosting dinners and gatherings at her home. She was a true hostess who lived independently until the time of her passing. She was committed to her family and faith and will be deeply missed. 

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Joyce Harrington and her husband Philip "Hago" of Salem, her daughter-in-law Linda (Toomey) Goodridge of Turnersville, New Jersey, her grandchildren, Keith Harrington of Manchester, N.H., Danny Harrington of South Yarmouth and David Goodridge of Collegeville, PA, her special niece Eleanor Harrison with whom she resided, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and her grandson Philip Goodridge of Lafayette Hill, PA and extended family and friends. She was the mother of the late Roy Goodridge and sister of the late Edward, Robert, James Moroney Jr and Phyllis MacKinnon.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Tuesday, May 20th at 9:15 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours Monday, May 19th from 4 to 7 P.M.
