Is Salem's Mandatory Recycling Policy Working on Your Street?

You tell us - have you seen a difference on your street since the city's new mandatory recycling ordinance went into effect?

It's been almost two months since the city's new mandatory recycling ordinance went into effect and Salem residents are being reminded to set aside their bottles and cans for pick-up.

The ordinance requires that city residents have a marked recycling receptacle containing recyclable material curbside on the days when their trash is to be picked up, but they shall not be required to do so more than every other week.

If the receptacle isn't put out for two consecutive weeks, Northside Carting will leave a notice sticker on the resident's barrel noting that it is required.

So we have to ask - have you seen an improvement on your street? Has the ordinance helped you remember to recycle?
