Salem's Second Annual Menorah Lighting Saturday at Lappin Park

Salem's annual menorah lighting will take place at Lapping Park Saturday night.

Mayor Kimberley Driscoll and Chabad of the North Shore announced Wednesday that the city's second annual Menorah Lighting will take place at Lappin Park on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m.

The entire community is welcome to celebrate the Festival of Lights in a public display of unity as the city kindles a giant 12-foot Menorah.

“This year as Chanukah coincides with Thanksgiving, the lights remind us never to take our freedoms for granted,” Rabbi Yossi Lipsker, Executive Director of Chabad of the North Shore, said in a release. “Both Chanukah and Thanksgiving are perfect opportunities to reflect on the various ways we can bring the light of goodness into the world. Chanukah also propagates the universal message that ultimately good will prevail over evil, freedom over oppression and light over darkness."

"I would like to thank Rabbi Lipsker for beginning and continuing this tradition to publicly light the Menorah and celebrate the miracle of Chanukah in Salem," Driscoll said.

The program will feature Chanukah treats and live music.
