World Music Benefit Concert
Temple Ahavat Achim, in Gloucester, will
host a benefit concert.
Pharaoh’s Daughter; World View, will
perform at The Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport on Sunday, March 23,
at 4pm to honor local business and civic leaders Amy and Mark Farber.
The concert will raise funds for Temple Ahavat Achim and
recognizes the Farbers for their long-term dedication to the Jewish community
of the North Shore, and for their 40-year status as the owners of Mark Adrian
Shoes in Gloucester. “We are all thrilled that Mark and Amy Farber are being
recognized for their contribution and commitment to the Gloucester and Cape Ann
community. Mark Adrian Shoes has been a Main Street fixture for generations.
Mark and Amy are the epitome of businesspeople who lead by example and make our
community a better place to live.” Said Peter Webber, Senior Vice President at

The Village Voice has called the
haunting, world music fusion sound of Pharoah’s Daughter “The best Middle East
Peace Plan.” Band leader Basya Schechter’s musicianship has been described as
“intricate and accessible,” with influences starting in Israel and ranging as
far as India, Mali, and Kurdistan. The multi-national group produces “a triumph
of substance and style…uncategorically awesome!” Pharaoh’s Daughter has been
heard at Lincoln Center, on NPR, and throughout the United States and Europe.
The public is welcome.
