The 5th Wall's New Original Show the Quiet Room

The 5th Wall Theatre Company’s upcoming production bridges the gap between actor and audience, creating an immersive dramatic experience in which you play a vital role in the action.Co-directed and choreographed by 5th Wall founders Bekah Jordan and Rachel Gawlak, and co-written with Gloucester-based writer John Dixon Mirisola, the Quiet Room is a collaborative play exploring silence, anxiety, and what it means to be alone with other people. Previous 5th Wall productions have transported audiences into the imaginary world of a 5-year-old girl (The Wells of Fancy Dry), or asked them to dance at the homecoming after-party for the graduating class of 1957 (Midnight Streetlight Smalltown). The Quiet Room invites you to journey the universe of a man caught between poetry and chaos.

Born in Racquetball Court 1 of the Cabot Street Y in 2012 with The Wells of Fancy Dry,The 5th Wall continues to reintroduce non-theatre locations as creative theatrical spaces. From its beginnings, the company has strived to create unique theatre experiences using familiar neighborhood locations—its last production, Midnight Streetlight Smalltown, incorporated the retro elements of Beverly’s Atomic Café into the set design for a 1950’s diner.

The 5th Wall is thrilled to return to Cabot Street July 18-20 to put up the Quiet Room in the very space that started it all. But returning audiences will find the familiar room transformed again, this time into a fray of books, memories and eccentric curiosities.
