North Shore CDC offering Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
North Shore Community Development Coalition and Salem State University are partnering to provide income tax preparation to low income tax payers throughout the region. North Shore CDC is located in Salem’s Point neighborhood and their office space provides accessibility to many clients in need of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). Last year, North Shore CDC assisted over 50 local residents with their tax preparation.
Magdalena Rodriguez, a resident who completed her tax preparation with North Shore CDC last year remarked, “It is great that North Shore CDC offers this service for free given that we are in a tough economy. I’m grateful they are offering it again this year.”
This year, Salem State University’s business school students will be volunteering at North Shore CDC to prepare income taxes for low income tax payers. As an IRS sponsored site for the past 2 years, North Shore CDC will be hosting the “kick off” of the VITA program on February 7th at 12:30 pm. After the kick off, tax assistance will be scheduling appointments from February 7th - April 11th on Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30pm - 8:30pm and Fridays from 12:30pm - 3:30pm.
