Good Fences Make Good Neighbors: A Tour of Salem's Historic Fences

Join Historic New
England and Historic Salem, Inc. for their annual tour series dedicated to
helping historic homeowners maintain and thoughtfully preserve their historic
properties. This year’s tour will take place in the Salem Common Historic
District and will explore the joint efforts of Salem's funding of the project
along with neighborhood association input for the restoration of the Salem
Common fence. Harry Dodakian of DeAngelis Iron Works, Inc. will be on hand to
answer questions about this project and how you can preserve your own cast iron
fence.

After touring the
common, the group will explore the Salem Common neighborhood with Historic New
England experts Sally Zimmerman and Eric Peterson to review other local
historic fences and learn about how you can make improvements to your own
property. Attendees are invited to bring along pictures of their fence projects
for basic consultation after the tour has concluded.
