Andy Warhol: Pop Artist Extraordinaire
Join us to learn what lies beneath Andy Warhol's celebrated layers and labels.
Warhol, the most renowned of the American Pop artists, strongly insisted that his work was no more meaningful than a popular television show. As a result, the complexity of his art was long overlooked. Fortunately, the diligent scholarship of art historians has revealed the depth of Warhol's art in relation to politics, social commentary on popular culture, and his identity as a gay man.
Cynthia Fowler, Chair of the Department of Art at Emmanuel College, presents this first lecture in our Pop Art Speaker Series.
