2nd Concert in Salem Philharmonic Orchestra Winter Series

The second concert of the 110th season The Salem Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winter Concert series will be held Sunday, January 12th, at Salem High School Auditorium, 77 Willson Street.  All of the Winter Series concerts are free to the public and handicap accessible. Please note that this year’s concerts will begin at 3:00PM, a half-hour earlier than in previous years.
 
The Jan. 12th concert will feature the Salem High School Symphony Orchestra, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major. The soloist is Edi Rovi, an accomplished pianist who is pursuing a music degree at Salem State University.

Rovi was born in Albania, where he received his classical background. He studied with the well-known piano professor Zana Ngiela. Rovi’s musical interests include baroque, classical, jazz and musical theater. He has also taught percussion ensemble at Salem State High School for the past three years, and teaches piano to children at his home studio.  Rovi plans to graduate with a BA in music from Salem State in May, 2014, and hopes to continue his studies at the Boston Conservatory, pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Education.

Conducting will be Alan Hawryluk, conductor of the orchestra for the past 44 years.
