Here's a handy list of what you can expect to be open, closed in Salem today.

Today is Patriots' Day, which means a day off from school or work for many of us.

Patriots’ Day is a state holiday in Massachusetts that marks the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the start of the Revolutionary War.

It is not a federal holiday.

City Hall: Closed

Salem Public Library: Closed

Liquor Stores: Most are open. Call ahead.

U.S. Post Offices and mail delivery: The post office in Salem will be open and there will be mail delivery.

Trash pickup: No trash pickup, pickup is delayed by one day all week.

Banks: Banks generally close only on federal holidays. Call ahead.

Salem Schools: All schools closed for Patriots’ Day, which is the first day of April vacation week.

Supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies, restaurants and other retail businesses: Many local businesses are open regular hours, but it is always good to call ahead.
