Salem Schools Open Tuesday, Parking Ban Modified at 4 p.m.

The city of Salem announced Monday afternoon that schools will be open tomorrow and on-street parking will be allowed, where possible, beginning at 4 p.m.

Salem public schools will be open Tuesday morning and the city's Snow Emergency Parking Ban will be modified at 4 p.m., according to an announcement made Monday afternoon.

The parking ban will be lifted to allow for on-street parking in Salem, though the announcement noted that many side-streets will still not be able to accommodate on-street parking.

Important: Any vehicles parked on the street that are deemed to be limiting or impeding travel by emergency vehicles or other motorists will be ticketed and towed.

"We are asking residents to use common sense when it comes to parking on street as many narrow roads and others with high snow piles may not allow for safe parking," the announcement read. "We will keep city lots open at no charge and encourage residents to use off street parking lots or city garages."

The clean-up from The Blizzard of 2013 is still expected to last a few more days.
