Where is Salem's Most Dangerous Intersection?

Derek B: Forest, Lafayette, Clifton crossing. Put up a set of lights that trigger when there is a car waiting.

bobhc2: Valley St at highland ave several people have been seriously injured and killed at that intersection becasue of higher speeds on highland ave and people try and take a left turn on to highland from Valley instead of using cherry hill ave which has the light and is much safer! I feel that if you made valley a one way from Cherry hill to highland ave so that cars are forced to use Cherry hill ave or atlease put a sign to encourage cars to use Cherry instead!

drew from salem: Still waiting for those lights to come back to the crosswalks at Winter and Bridge. Half the time, people only look left when turning right onto Bridge. Buses and large trucks block sight-lines there as well. All this before you add in tourists who are only looking at directional signs when trying to come into the city.

Kristian: Agree with Drew about Winter and Bridge. They need a walk signal there. As a pedestrian, nobody stops for you at that crosswalk. My husband, my 2 year old, and I will stand there and wait and wait and wait. Then I'll step into the crosswalk and wait and wait and wait. Then up at the Bridge St/Bypass intersection. Everyone turns right on red when the walk signal is on. We've had too many close calls there.

Rachel Warner: Washington and Federal needs to be updated. There is no light there and there is also a blind spot next to the courthouse. The crossing light at Federal and North hasn't been working properly either.

Edward: Intersection of Chestnut, Summer and Norman Streets. Only '+' shaped intersection in Salem wihout traffic lights or a stop sign.

Anthony O'Donnell: The corner of Flint and Mason Streets is the worst intersection in the City. Flint Street needs to be one way and or no parking on the street. You can't have it both ways without accidents.

Cafe Polonia Closing Up Salem Location

Elizabeth Mizioch-Crawford: A big loss for the city! I stop in with my daughter to buy our fix of food for dinner and we would get a stick of Polish salami wrapped, to share while we strolled through town. Will miss the traditional fixtures in the window and the sound of Polish music and conversation as we waited in line. Good luck and Thanks!

DEBBIE: What a loss for Salem and the patrons that gathered there from the out of town communities. It is the only Polish restaurant around the north shore. Yes, I do go to the Polish Deli at East India Mall for my groceries, but I would rather be sitting in the restaurant at Cafe Polonia to relax and enjoy a meal. Well, back to Andrew Square in South Boston and Dorchester for some authentic Polish food. Cafe Polonia will truly be missed around these parts. They have delicious food.

Ron Zabrocki: Very sad. So many changes happening since my 1st visit 14 years ago. Seems to be getting too commercialized and not the same quaint quirky town I loved. I have been visiting 3-4 times per year during various seasons. Now my favorite time is mid November. Quieter and less tourist. Loved Cafe Polonia. Maybe it reminded me of my polish heritage. Will miss it. And hearing the Polish language and smelling and tasting the delicious foods from my childhood.

Jroug: Great place, amazing food - I didn't eat there as much as I'd have liked because I always ate too much! Will be returning before they close. Best of luck to them.

Thomas Stirling: I was just down there looking at those the other day, pretty cool stuff. I always stop to look when im taking the ferry in the summer months.
