Salem May See Up to 4 Inches of Snow by Morning Commute

Snow is expected to blanket the area overnight, accumulating 2-4 inches by Tuesday morning.

A snow storm that arrived in Salem Monday night may leave up to 7 inches of heavy snow in its wake before tomorrow's morning commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, forecasting 2-4 inches of snow as temperatures drop to the low 20s with 15-25 mph winds and gusts up to 40 mph.

Meanwhile, the local forecast for Salem says 2-4 inches.

"There is still some uncertainty on the amounts, which will depend on the exact track of the [storm]," says the Weather Service.

If the storm does blanket the Salem area, snow is expected to continue through the night. Snow may be heavy at times.

Snowfall should taper off Tuesday morning, but another 1-3 inches are predicted for Salem. Visibility on the roads may be down to a half mile at times.

"Untreated roads will become snow covered and slippery tonight. The Tuesday morning rush hour may be impacted," says the Weather Service.
