The Second Annual Paczki Eating Contest went off without a hitch at Cafe Polonia in Salem Tuesday night as area residents celebrated Fat Tuesday by stuffing their faces.
The big paczki-eating pig-out, which was orgainzed by Cafe Polonia and Coffee Time Bake Shop, was in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem.
Paczki, pronounced (poonch-kee) are traditional Polish doughnuts consumed on Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of lent in the Catholic calendar.
All funds raised from contest entry fees as well as 20 percent of all of Tuesday's sales at both businesses will be donated to the local Boys and Girls Club.
A big thank you to Josh Turiel and Britney Purdy for shooting and sending along the photos and videos attached to this post.
