Grab your windbreaker, sunglasses and a pair of binoculars for the ride of a lifetime! Essex Heritage, in partnership with the National Park Service, is thrilled to offer this historic opportunity to be the second passenger-crew ever aboard Friendship of Salem. The adventure begins when she travels to and participates in the annual Gloucester Schooner Festival over Labor Day Weekend, September 3 and 4, 2011!

Sail aboard Friendship on Saturday, Sept. 3 to view the small boat races and arrival of the  participating schooners, engage in interpreted maritime history and learn about life at sea.  Set sail on Sunday, Sept. 4 to view the Parade of Sail and help sail Friendship back home to her berth on Derby Wharf in Salem. Both excursions are open to the general public. Tickets for this exclusive event are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each ticket ($200 Essex Heritage members/$250 non-members) will provide for a six hour sail and opportunities to help sail the vessel as a volunteer crew-member, view the festival’s participating schooners and interact with Park Service interpreters who will share information about the ship and our maritime history.
