With rumors swirling that the third season of the Emmy-award winning FX series 'American Horror Story' may be focused on the Salem Witch Trials, many city residents were wondering if the film crew spotted in downtown Salem Wednesday morning was a sign that filming was underway.
The answer is no - the crew filming on Washington Street Wednesday morning was shooting a TV commercial for a local bank, Mayor Kim Driscoll said Thursday night.
And now, the website Shock Till You Drop is reporting that an actress on the show, Frances Conroy, has said the third season will be filmed in New Orleans, La.
"It's going to start up again in July or August in New Orleans, I'll be part that and will have a fairly substantial part in it," she said. "I'll be in 10 of the episodes of what I think will be a 13-part season."
Witch Trials Hints
When E! asked McDermott if he thinks Kathy Bates is "perfect" for the upcoming season, he reportedly said: "She really is. All the witches of Salem…there's plenty of them!"
Many "American Horror Story" fans began speculating that Salem would be the subject of Season 3 after creator Ryan Murphy told viewers there was a hint about the upcoming season in last season's episode, titled "The Name Game."
During the episode, a juke box played the 1950s classic "I Put A Spell On You."
Murphy has been tight-lipped the specifics, but he did tell Entertainment Weekly in January: "I sorta feel like for the third version I want to do something that’s a little bit more 'evil glamour' ... We're contemplating shooting [Season 3] in a place in the country where true horror has been. We’ve got lots of delicious plans."
What do you think about the prospect of having the Salem Witch Trials be the focus of the series' third season? Do you watch American Horror Story?
