5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 8

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.

Today is Thursday, Nov. 8, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. You'll want to be prepared for some wet weather in Salem today. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect rain and a high near 45. Tonight should be cloudy, with a low around 35. (sunrise, 6:26 a.m.; low tide, 11:45 a.m.; sunset, 4:27 p.m.; high tide, 5:57 p.m.) 

2. The Salem Licensing Board will meet tonight in the third-floor conference room of 120 Washington St. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., according to the posted agenda.

3. The family of Dillon Renard, the Danvers teen killed in an alleged drunk driving accident in Salem earlier this year, will host a scholarship fundraiser in his honor at the Beverly Italian Community Center, Friday night. Click Here for all the details.

4. The U.S. Labor Department has filed court papers claiming that Upper Crust pizzeria owes workers $850,000 in back wages, according to a Boston Globe report. In February, an Upper Crust Pizza location on Washington Street in Salem closed its doors to customers.
