Today is Wednesday, Dec. 13, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. It should be another pleasant day in Salem. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect it to be sunny, with a high near 42. Tonight should be mostly clear, with a low around 35. (sunrise, 7:05 a.m.; high tide, 10:24 a.m.; sunset, 4:10 p.m.; low tide, 4:48 p.m.)

2. An online fundraising effort to save CinemaSalem that kicked off earlier this month is within $7,000 of reaching its goal and gaining momentum.
