Today is Wednesday, September 12 and here are 5 things you need to know.

1. September 11 - Yesterday, the SFD honored those lost on September 11 2001. Photos from the ceremony at Fire HQ are attached to this story, courtesy our friend Bil Legault.

2. Licensing Board - At Monday night's licensing board meeting, we learned Grapevine was sold to KMZ of Salem LLC, out of Newburyport. Bangkok Paradise is being called in for a hearing on Oct. 8 after Salem Police filed a complaint based on several arrests over the weekend. We'll have more on both soon.

3. Safety Day - Mayor Kimberley Driscoll and the Salem Moose Family Center are pleased to announce that they will hold the 4th Annual Public Safety Day at the Moose Lodge on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. New this year, there will be a boat from the Salem Harbormaster’s Department along with many other public safety vehicles on hand outside for kids to explore. The Essex County Sheriff’s Office Canine Unit will hold demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. You will also be able to meet Salem’s new K9 Unit Officers Ryan Davis and Jon Bedard.

4. Sgt. James Ayube Jr. - Have you seen the new MBTA car wrapped in the names of state residents who lost their lives in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom? If you skip to the 1:52 minute mark, you will see the star for Ayube.
