Happenings at the Boys & Girls Club February 28

Puppet Theater: The kids voted on their favorite children's
book, all of whom were written by girls in the Creative Writing program last
fall. In a couple months they will make a small puppet theater play out of
Kalynda Santanas book, Life of a Tree, and a large puppet theater play out of
Miranda Graves book, The Sheep on the Bus Go Round and Round.

Performance Theater: Each member of the performance theater
crew received their parts in the play, BIG BAD. The group did their first read
through of the play that they will be performing June 6th and 7th at the
Marblehead Little Theater.

Torch Club: Torch Club will be visiting the Peabody Essex
Museum and visiting the Midnight to the Boom exhibit. Following their visit,
the group will be decided on a design for their Mosaic mural they will be
assembling this April and hanging in the lobby of the Annex Building on 120
Washington St.

 Art Club: Art Club
will be visiting the Peabody Essex Museum and visiting the Midnight to the Boom
exhibit that just opened at the first of February. The group will be learning
about the influence of color in a piece of art work.

Boys 18 and under basketball team defeated Lawrence last
night 57-52 behind the strong play of Michael Sanchez and Jorman Almanzar.

The Wild Turkey 5 Mile Run hosted by the Boys & Girls
Club was selected as the top holiday road race on the North Shore by the North
Shore Road Race guide. This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the race.

 “The Mosaic Mural
Project”

 The Boys & Girls
Club of Greater Salem in Collaboration with the Peabody Essex Museum is
bringing a Public Art Mosaic Mural Project to Salem. The Torch Club at The Boys
& Girls Club of Greater Salem will be working with Salem native, guest
artist, professional Mosaic Muralist Andrea Bellomo! Check out Andrea's work at
www.andybartworks.com  A Fundraiser in
support of The Mosaic Mural Project will be held on Saturday, March 9, from
7:oopm to 11:00pm at the Ward Two Social Club. The cost is $10 donation at the
door. There will be raffles, silent auctions, music, sweet treats, and good
company!
