Salem's Northeast Animal Shelter Partners with Nation's Fastest Growing Pet Insurance Provider to Offer Pet Insurance at No Cost

The Northeast Animal Shelter announced launched a new program that provides 30 days of pet insurance coverage for shelter pets at no cost. Coverage is provided by Trupanion, the nation’s fastest growing provider of pet insurance in North America.

The program offers adopters financial peace of mind. Veterinary costs associated with unexpected injuries or illnesses their new pet may develop after leaving the shelter will be covered by Trupanion at 90 percent.

“When we place a pet in a new home, our hope is always that it is a forever home,” said Northeast Animal Shelter’s Director, Laurie McCannon. “In addition to matching pets and owners for compatibility, our new partnership with Trupanion now helps us ensure that adoptive owners will be able to provide the necessary medical care, no matter the cost, for their new pets if something should arise.”

Every pet at Northeast Animal Shelter is examined by the shelter’s veterinary team, who provide detailed medical records of any treatment received during their shelter stay. These records help to determine any pre-existing conditions the pet may have. All conditions not considered pre-existing will be covered at 90%, after a $250 deductible, with no payout limits per year, per condition, or over the lifetime of the pet. And there are no waiting periods – coverage starts immediately.

“We are strong supporters of shelter pets and we are thrilled to have Northeast Animal Shelter on board,” said Alison Andrew, senior vice president and head of the shelter program at Trupanion. “Many of us have adopted pets ourselves and we know the joy that comes with bringing home that new four-legged family member. To be able to provide peace of mind to these new pet owners, so their pet can get the care it needs in the event of an emergency, is a really great feeling.”
