Salem Police Seize Fresh Taste of Asia's Liquor License

Salem's Fresh Taste of Asia lost its liquor license Wednesday afternoon.

Although the owner was given a stern warning at a Salem Licensing Board meeting last month, the Fresh Taste of Asia lost its liquor license Wednesday afternoon.

At 3:08 p.m., Salem Detectives Charlene Sano and James Page reportedly entered the Washington Street restaurant and seized the business' liquor license, according to today's police log post.

In November, the owner of the restaurant was warned that he and several other local restaurants were not in compliance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 304 - a fire safety bill that was enacted following the 2004 Station Nightclub tragedy in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

According to the warning issued at the licensing board meeting last month, Fresh Taste of Asia won't get its liquor license back until fire officials complete a safety inspection of the premises.

Salem Patch will post additional information as it becomes available.
