The Regatta Pub Opening Second Location in Marblehead

The Regatta Pub will be opening soon at the former Hungry Betty's location at Village Plaza on Pleasant Street.

The Marblehead Board of Selectmen has paved the way for The Regatta Pub to open a second location at the former Hungry Betty's space at Village Plaza.

At their meeting at Abbot Hall Wednesday night, board members unanimously approved separate motions to award a common victualler's license and an all-alcoholic beverage license to Rockett Management Inc., the company that owns The Salem Waterfront Hotel and The Regatta Pub in Salem.

Appearing before the board were Marblehead resident and Regatta Pub owner Richard Rockett, his attorney, Thomas K. Egan, and William Carroll, who will be running both The Regatta Pub in downtown Salem and the new location at 165 Pleasant St.

Egan told board members that Rockett Management purchased the all-alcoholic beverage license previously belonging to Hungry Betty's owner Jason Rakauskas, at public auction after Rakauskas filed for bankruptcy.

"This is as fully occupied as we've ever been at (Village Plaza) and a key aspect of that is having a restaurant there on the second floor," Egan said. "Not only is it good for my clients but obviously it is a magnet for people to come to this town and spend money."

When it opens, The Regatta Pub will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. The seating capacity is 170.

We will be sure to let you know when The Regatta Pub is getting read to open!
