More than a thousand Market Basket employees, middle managers and customers rallied on Friday at company headquarters in Tewksbury in support of former CEO Arthur T. Demoulas.

Demoulas was ousted last month when a majority of the company's board shifted in support of Arthur T.'s cousin and rival, Arthur S. Demoulas. Arthur T. Demoulas was replaced with two co-CEOs from outside the company.
Earlier this week, employees demanded that Arthur T. be reinstated as CEO and set a Thursday afternoon deadline.
The deadline came and went without Arthur T. returning to his job. Workers were warned that if they did not show up for work on Friday they would be replaced. The board chairman said that the company board plans to meet on Monday via telephone to discuss the employee's request to reinstate Arthur T. Demoulas.
