Ken's Kickin' Chicken Opens Peabody Location

Popular North Shore chain recently opened a new location near Lowell Street in Peabody.

North Shore chain Ken’s Kickin’ Chicken is now in Peabody.

The eatery with locations on North Street in Salem and Maple Street in Lynn opened at 6 Bourbon St., off Lowell Street near Bonkers.

Known around the North Shore for its chicken pies, Ken’s Kickin’ Chicken chose to open in Peabody because of customer request and the proximity to Route 1.

The Peabody location is very different from the other two Ken’s Kickin’ Chicken. While the locations in Salem and Lynn went with a country feel, Ken’s Kickin’ Chicken decided to go with a bolder interior in Peabody.

There is a chicken mural on the wall and the color scheme is a bold fire engine red and canary yellow. Those collars are a part of the restaurant’s logo, but it’s the first time they’ve integrated the colors in the interior.

“We used this as a completely different model than before,” said General Manager Heather Lupis. “We did it because we wanted to do something new, different, modern.”

The interior is different, but the menu is the same as the two other locations that have built a loyal North Shore following. There are pies, including The Classic, Shepherd’s Pie, Buffalo Chicken, Chicken & Stuffing, and the Chicken Lover, and a different special every day.

Lupis said everything is fresh, homemade and with all natural ingredients. Everything is made each morning. Ken’s Kickin’ Chicken uses Bell & Evans Chicken and nothing is frozen.

In addition to the restaurants, Ken’s does catering and has 75 weddings already lined up before October this year.

Ken’s is reviewing its menu and plans to expand offerings in the summer. They expect to offer marinated meats (chicken, steak tips and turkey tips) for barbecues and salads to take on a picnic, such as chicken salad and Cole slaw.

Lupis said Ken’s Kickin’ Chicken had always planned on opening in Peabody and they’re pleased to have a spot in the city.

“Even before we opened the Lynn store, we knew Peabody, especially West Peabody, would be a great location,” said Lupis.

Ken’s Kickin’ Chicken, 6 Bourbon St., Peabody, is currently open Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
