New Japanese Restaurant Opening in Downtown Salem

Koto Japanese Grill & Sushi will open on Washington Street in Salem.

Sushi fans rejoice.

A new restaurant offering authentic Japanese cuisine will open soon in the commercial space that was formerly home to Bangkok Paradise on Washington Street in Salem.

At their meeting Monday night, the Salem Licensing Board unanimously approved the transfer of Bangkok Paradise's all-alcohol liquor license to Baisha Inc., which will operate as Koto Japanese Grill & Sushi at 90 Washington St.

The motion passed on the condition that Bangkok Paradise obtain a Certificate of Good Standing from the state.

Prior to the vote, members were introduced to Koto Japanese Grill & Sushi's future owner, Yong Hui Liu, 28, who said he has an extensive background in the food service industry and has worked at many Japanese restaurants across New England.

Salem Patch will post additional information about this new eatery as it becomes available - and we'll let you know when they're getting ready to open.

How do you think Koto Japanese Grill & Sushi will do at the former Bangkok Paradise location?
