International clothing store chain UNIQLO is now hiring for its new Northshore Mall store that is planned to open on Sept. 19.

UNIQLO is going into the former Pottery Barn location near J.C. Penney.

The Peabody location is one of six the company plans to open in Greater Boston over the next year. Other locations opening this year are a pop-up shop in Faneuil Hall in Boston and locations at the Natick Mall, the Mall at Chestnut Hill and Legacy Place in Dedham. A flagship store on Newbury Street in Boston as well as a permanent location at Faneuil Hall are also on tap for 2015.

The chain, which currently has 20 stores in the U.S. and more than 1,300 across the world, is expected to open in other US markets, including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

UNIQLO is a brand of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., a Japanese retail holding company that designs, manufactures and sells clothing under seven main brands: Comptoir des Cotonniers, GU, Helmut Lang, J Brand, Princesse tam.tam, Theory, and UNIQLO.

The company had global sales of more than $11 billion in 2013. It sponsors top-ranked male professional tennis player Novak Djokovic.

Totally agree Pat...just what we need, more cheaply made (using slave labor), yet overpriced Japanese products flooding the U.S.! We deserve it though since our country sold out to China & Japan a long time ago.
