Veres appeared before the Salem Licensing Board last month and was unanimously granted a common victualler's license to operate at 188 Essex St. Veres was born in Salem and attended Salem High School before graduating from Suffolk University. Lengas is from Athens, Greece.

The Red Line Cafe will have a full espresso bar and offer sandwiches, wraps, salads, crepes and fresh smoothies. Veres said she also plans on serving bagels, muffins, cookies, spinach pie and cheese pie.

The 64-seat cafe will have a rustic contemporary look and will offer free Wifi, Veres said.
