A&B Burgers Opening in Former Great Escape Restaurant Space

A&B Salem is expected to open in the former Great Escape Restaurant space sometime next month.

A&B Burgers will be opening next month in the former home of Great Escape Restaurant on St. Peter Street, according the restaurant's new owners.

The restaurant's co-owner Thomas Holland confirmed in an email Tuesday that he has purchased the Great Escape Restaurant and will be opening the burger and beer restaurant sometime next month.

According to his email, "A&B is a concept that will fill a giant gaping hole in the culinary scene of not only Salem but also the whole North Shore. We are a semi-quick serve restaurant which serves healthier, local farm to table beef raised only on small farms which practice sustainable farming and never ever add any hormones or antibiotics to the feed."

The beef burgers will be accompanied with vegetarian options, seafood options and poultry options, Holland said.

He also pointed out that a lot of energy is being spent "pairing the best local and national craft beers with our foods to allow for the perfect enjoyment of two of Americas favorite things; burgers and beer."

Holland has more than 20 years in the restaurant industry and has worked at restaurants in San Francisco, Boston, and opened Alta Strada at MGM Foxwoods.

Co-owning the restaurant with Holland will be Amy Butler, who assisted him in opening Alta Strada at MGM Foxwoods, according to the email.

How do you think A&B Burgers will do in this location? What would you suggest to the owners before they open?
