A Look Around Salem's Scarlet Letter Press & Gallery

Here's a look around one of Salem's newest downtown businesses.

The Scarlet Letter Press & Gallery, which opened for business on Wharf Street in October, is a family-run business offering far more than just business cards and local art.

The Scarlet Letter's co-owner Josh deVries worked for seven years as the Production Manager for , a full-service print shop that operated on Essex Street for more than three decades.

When the owners of Digital Imaging Inc., Michael and Karen Epstein, made the decision to retire, deVries and his wife made them an offer and soon after acquired the business.

Once the deal was official, deVries' wife left a corporate job she held for nine years to come assist him with the day-to-day operations of running the business and, as he put it, "the rest is history."

"We chose the Pickering Wharf location so that we could combine the print shop space with a gallery setting, utilizing the four walls we were given to showcase local artwork," deVries said.
