Last week---

Well it’s been pretty feckin cold out and I must admit, I have stayed in some nights instead of bundling up to “fight on foot”. This is not like me. Am I getting old? Oh yeah, yes I am. But I did get out a bit to hear some great stuff. Saturday was a great afternoon at Murphys with the full Britannica band playing. Lots of happy faces in the room and peeps dancing and singing along to Kinks, Stones, Moody Blues, etc. I really wish there was a reliable way to tell if there would be music on Saturday afternoon and who it would be. No listing for this week.

Sunday afternoon we went back to O’Neils for the first time in too long, to catch some of the Irish Session. Larry and Company still set my heart aflutter, reminding me that I haven’t visited the old sod for the last time yet. It’s very much like being in a pub in Ireland on Sunday afternoons here. Check it out.

I was traveling with Pam, Keith, Emily (MAM), Amy and Barbie on this special day, I was trying to keep it quiet but Amy was nice enough to let Chris Fitz know it was my birthday this week. Nothing worse than a room full of all you SOT’S singing Happy Birthday to me. Seriously it wasn’t that bad. Thanks folks.

Chris, PBD and company were their usual incredible self’s at Brodies for the weekly Sunday/Funday show. Being that the Marblehead ladies were in town, and they really don’t know how to dance over there, I had to show them some of my “special” moves on the floor. OMG. I should be embarrassed. NOT!

I was going to be good and head home after but Henley Douglas and Friends were down at the Pig, and being “hardly out of the way”, what was I to do? I caught Henley a few nights earlier, at OPUS Underground, but I can’t get enough of what he’s putting down. As usual, a great show.

My picks in the coming week:

Henley Douglas returns to In a Pigs Eye tonight (Thursday). You can’t go wrong when Henley is in the room.

I haven’t checked it out yet and I probably won’t make it tonight (Thursday) either but OPUS Underground has Reggae tonight and every Thursday. You need to check out this great new music venue in town. Here’s your chance. Ya Mon!!!

The Transisters return to Brodies Seaport Friday. These guys will have you dancing your pants off so come on down and show us what you got. See you there.

The final show of the season at Lobster Shanty for Vein is Friday night. Next Wednesday, they close for the season, reopening on April 1. Thanks Lee and Dianne and all the others who work to make this such a special place. (I won’t say it.) See you when it’s warmer.

Steve Peabody and The Wayback Machine take the stage at In a Pigs Eye Saturday at 9. Sherman will surely set the Wayback Machine and Boris may even try again to “Keel the Moose and Squirrel”

Sunday/Funday at Brodies, always a great show. I can’t find who this week’s special guest is but I’m depending on a certain harmonica player to update me.

Gracie Curran closes out the weekend in style at In a Pigs Eye. And the show starts at 8. PERFECT!

This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST. See his site here:  http://www.stanslist.com  Thanks Stan.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions. But sometimes I make up words too, CORDWANGERS!!!

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, strange, historic and hip town of Salem, Massachusenutts.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and I sometimes Feck up)

Peace, Love and Zydeco.
