Last week---

Pam and I caught a bit of Erinn Brown and Randy outside at the Shanty on Thursday. I sure am gonna miss these outside shows. As always, Erinn was wonderful.

The weekly jam down at the Pig was fab as usual. Last week I met some new folks on the high seas and told them a bit about Salem, where to eat, what to see, live music, etc. Well they showed up at the jam and enjoyed the hell out of it. I also told them about Sunday/Funday and they showed for that too. (You know I wasn’t there. I don’t want to talk about it.) These peeps like Salem so much they decided to stay another week. I’ll be looking for them AND their son, who hopes to sit in at the Friday jam. I hear he plays a pretty good sax.

Saturday, it was back to the Pig for my favorites, who play there every 3rd Saturday, Juke Joint Five. I keep harping on it but if you haven’t heard these guys yet, well I guess you just don’t like Blues. But I do and I love this band.

My picks in the coming week:

You know I don’t usually leave Salem unless it’s special because I have to drive and---well, you know. But I just heard from Chris Cole at Rockafellas last night that Capones in Peabody has a blues jam on Thursdays, run by Lee Hawkins. I can’t make it tonight but it’s on my radar. I’m interested what the crowd is like in this dance club. Could be interesting. Maybe next week----

Tonight, (Thursday) at the Pig we have the return of Lois Lane and The Daily Planets, those great rock, soul and blues guys. I missed them on the Hannah Glover last month because of predicted bad weather, but nothing will keep me away tonight.

If I have any life left in me, I’ll stop into OPUS for the DEJAS weekly show. Great room. Great Band. And hardly out of the way. I’ve got to make an early run to Logan so I SHOULD make an early night of it. Uh HUH.

Friday. Blues Jam. Pigs Eye. Yup!

Saturday has me at the Shanty to catch a guy who’s around all the time but I’ve yet to hear. Ronnie "Black Hat" Deschenes takes the stage at 8. You know, we have had a great stretch of good weather but I have a feeling it won’t last, so get out and enjoy this outside show while you can.  And I’m interested to see if any of the wait staff that went to Vegas for Mike and Sarah’s wedding didn’t come back cus they won so much money. I’m thinking they are all back to work.

Sunday/Funday at Brodies Seaport. The other Best show in town!!! Starts around 4ish. And no, I won’t be there. We’ll see what my October work schedule brings. Stop by and wish Sara Ashodian a Happy Birthday. I think she’s turning 28.
