"I'm a Soul Man" as performed by Sam and Dave

Have You Heard---

I’m listening to Ray Charles on Pandora this morning. Tell me, “What’d I say”

So, this week, it’s going to be quick and dirty for me. I’m putting this out early because I’m headed to the great, white north, the North Atlantic Blues Festival in Rockland, Maine. I have been attending this fest since 2001, continuously. I think it’s the best fest in the northeast, but that’s me. I’m meeting several friends at a little piece of heaven on the Maine coast, Millers Lobster Company in Spruce Head, Friday, to start the silliness.

This week in history:

In 1850, Zachary Taylor, our 12th president, died in office. He was followed by what some consider, our most ineffective president, Millard Fillmore. My aunt, a Poor Clare nun, spent considerable time searching our family history and swore we are directly related to President Fillmore. Now you know where I get it.

In 1933, Baseballs first All Star Game, played at Cominskey Park, resulted in an American League win, 4-2.

In 1946, a day that every male will remember fondly, the Bikini was unveiled in Paris.

In 1954, Elvis recorded his first of many hits, with “That’s all right Mama”

This week in History, Birthdays:

Brian Dennehy 75, Ringo 73, Shelly Duval (Wendy, I’m home) 64, Courtney Love 49, Jack White 38

My picks in the coming week: Even thou I will miss all these shows.

Wednesday:

No question, Dave Bailin and the Bailouts at the Pig. My pick of the evening.

Thursday:

Britannica perform down at Brodies Seaport Café. I missed these guys at Derby Wharf on the 4th cus I can’t take the 112 degree heat. I’m hoping their new keyboard player is with them tonight.

Again I’m going to miss Brian Cogger perform down at the Pig tonight. Next time, man

Friday:

The Blues Jam down at In a Pigs Eye, 4:15ish to 7:15ish. What can I say that I don’t say every week but DON’T MISS IT!!!!

Vein, down at The Lobster Shanty. A Salem institution. Again, they get real crowded so get there early.

Gumbo Diablo are back at the Seaport tonight. This is another band I have heard so much good  about but haven’t caught YET.

Lois Lane and The Daily Planet's return to the Pig tonight at 9:30. Lois is a class act and the lady’s got soul

Saturday:

I wish I could get advance info on who’s playing at Murphy’s on Saturday afternoons. I really like the time of these shows and it’s a good music room. But I don’t know who the feck is playing!!!!

Sunday:

Sunday/Funday at Seaport Café. The best party in town. Say no more. Unfortunately for me, I will miss several months of these shows cus of work.

Have a great week, y’all and don’t worry your little hearts about me. I’ll be doing my research up in Rockland.

This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST. See his site here:  http://www.stanslist.com  Thanks Stan.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions.

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, strange, historic and hip town of Salem, Massachusenutts.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and I sometimes Feck up)

Today’s picture’s were taken aboard the Irish Wake last Saturday, cruising down the Annisquam River, on our way to Wingersheik Beach. Captain Indie got us safely there and back.

Peace, Love and Zydeco.
