My picks in the coming week:

Ok, tonight Pam and I are going to check out the new place OPUS, both for some chow, and stick around to hear my faves, The Dejas and Friends at 9. I’m hearing good reports about this place and I will find out more about other music happenings while I’m there.

I’ve been threatening to hear this band the last few times they rolled thru town. I think Friday I will try again to hear Gumbo Diablo at the Seaport. Hope to see ya there

The Blues Jam at In a Pigs Eye, Friday. What else can I say here except see you there.

The house band Vein are down at Le’ Shant, AKA The Lobster Shanty every Friday evening around 8. If the weather is right, which it will be tonight, this is the place to be.

Looking for some great R&B and Soul? Friday at The Village Tavern you can catch the great Lois Lane & the Daily Planets. Bring your dancing shoes and prepare to be entertained.

Speaking of soul, this will be one of your last chances to catch Barrence Whitfield before he embarks on a southeast US tour, followed by a Europe tour, promoting his new CD. Salem’s own Godfather of Soul will be on the road several months so catch him while you can. Barrence is doing Brunch at Grapevine, Sunday at 11:30. I WILL be there!!!

Work, Work, Work, is going to keep me from catching Sunday/Funday again, featuring Evan Goodrow. WAAAAAAA!!! I went all the way to Memphis to hear this MO-FO. Show’s you what I think. DON’T YOU MISS THIS!

What to do on a Wednesday night? How’s about’s going to the Pig to hear local Fave’s, Britannica Acoustic Duo. These guys are sure to make you sing, dance and just generally be happy. I’ll probably stop in after work. It is “Hardly out of the way”

This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST. See his site here:  http://www.stanslist.com  Thanks Stan.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions.

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, strange, historic and hip town of Salem, Massachusenutts.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and I sometimes Feck up)
