Have You Heard---

I’m Listening to “What’s Going On” performed by Cyndi Lauper on Spotify. Give it a listen sometime. WOWZA!!!!

Find out what's happening in Salemwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Back in the day, Cyndi performed a free concert in Central Park and it was “simulcast” on WBCN and a local TV station. I wish I could remember where that cassette is. That was before MTV and their alleged “music” videos.

Out of town: Some picks from around the area this weekend

Tonight, Thursday, Capones in Peabody is hosting their weekly Blues Jam with Lee Hawkins from 8-11PM. I hear Dianne Blue is the special guest tonight. She is the BOMB!!!!  I just may have to attend tonight’s show.

Friday, Jamie Lynn Hart is up at Chianti’s in Beverly. She played Sunday/Funday recently and blew me away.

Sunday at Celly’s on Western Ave (Rt 107) in Lynn, Joe Mack hosts a blues jam every Sunday evening. Not sure of the time but it’s after Sunday/Funday at Brodies

My picks in the coming week:

It’s going to be difficult to leave town tonight because Salem’s best rock and roll band, Dave Bailin and the Bailouts are down at In a Pig’s Eye. You gotta do what you gotta do. But if you are in town tonight, this is THE show. As I’m writing this, the Bailouts are playing “Out of Touch” on Spotify.

It’s back to The Pig Friday night because The Jenni Lynn' Band are in town. I caught these guys several months ago when they played Murphy’s one Saturday afternoon.

BTW. Murphy’s website says they have music Saturday but I can’t figure who’s playing. Help me out Corrie.

Speaking of Friday’s, last week I mentioned that The Lobster Shanty was opening for the season April 1. Well, for the 2nd year in a row, Pam and I were the first customers. AND--- Vein return this week for their Friday residency. hoping for some warm nights on the patio.

Sorry Pam. I have to tell this Shanty story again. Several years ago, on Opening day, I was at the bar (SHOCKING, I know). A friend came up for drinks and invited me to join him and some others at a table. One of the peeps was a woman I didn’t know. After talking a while, I asked this woman how she knew my friends. She said she had answered an ad on Craigslist for a threesome and here she was. I meet the most interesting people at the Shanty.  I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

There is a new jam in town on Saturday afternoons, starting this week. The Ward 2 Social Club is hosting a weekly jam featuring Bonefish doing an acoustic set from 2-6PM. If you don’t know, they are located on 1 East Collins Street, off Bridge Street. And yep, they have a full bar, for those of you so inclined.

Wednesday, its back to In a Pigs Eye cus Judy Rudd’s band, The Thrift Store Roots Project are back in town. I just love Judy’s voice, not to mention last month she dedicated a song just for me. I had to ask the peeps in front of me to STFU so I could hear her.

Mass State Police have announced they will have another sobriety checkpoint in Essex County this weekend. So be careful and Take A Cab.

Hope to see you out there.

This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST. See his site here:  http://www.stanslist.com  Thanks Stan.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions. But sometimes I make up words too, CORDWANGERS!!!

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, strange, historic and hip town of Salem, Massachusenutts.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and I sometimes Feck up)

Peace, Love and Zydeco.
