My picks in the coming week:
Thursday:
It’s 4th of July, yeh GOATS.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA.
Reading of the Declaration of Independence at 9AM on the Common, by my friend and neighbor, Dann Maurno.
Britannica at Derby Wharf. Full band tonight, including their new Keyboard player. Should be a great show.
Fireworks tonight at 9, at Derby Wharf. Always a large crown. Bring a chair, Bug spray, and get comfy.
Lots of celebration going on all around town. Check The Salem News and Salem Patch for all events.
Gracie Curran, down at Seaport. I’m sure she will take a break during the fireworks, but hurry back and get a seat cus 20,000 peeps are going to walk by here around 9:30
Lois Lane and the Daily Planets at the Black Lobster, 8PM. Not sure if you can see the fireworks from here but you can see and hear Lois.
Friday:
Left of the dial with Dave Babcock, world class mixologist and DJ takes to the airwaves every Friday from 4-6 on SSU radio station WMWM, 91.7 on your radio dial, (whatever that is). I’m hearing rumors that this show is soon to be replaced with new talent, just cus Dave graduated. But I expect at least a few more weeks of this fab show. Listen in if you’re not down at the jam
The Blues Jam down at In a Pigs Eye, 4:15ish to 7:15ish. What can I say that I don’t say every week but DON’T MISS IT!!!! I WILL be there today.
Vein, down at The Lobster Shanty. A Salem institution. Again, they get real crowded so get there early. Probably inside tonight due to the “sucky” weather.
The Transisters down at Seaport. Old time Rock and Roll. Bring your dancing shoes
Saturday:
The Erinn (2N) Band are at Seaport tonight. I’m Guessing the full band tonight.
One of my fave’s, Vein perform tonight at Howling Wolf. YEPPERS!!!
Sunday:
Sunday/Funday at Seaport Café. The best party in town. Say no more. Unfortunately for me, I will miss several months of these shows cus of work.
Shows you may have missed---
The Blues Jam at the Pig last week was extra special. Mike Fioretti and Friends took the stage and ripped it up. Everyone was up and dancing and having a good time. I think all in attendance will agree that these guys need to come back SOON.
Pam and I stepped out of town last week and went to Stonewood Tavern on Lynnfield St in Peabody Saturday night, to check it out and also hear Britannica Acoustic with Ted and Pete. All around, a great night. This was our first visit to this well run establishment, but it won’t be our last great food and drink, professional staff and Britanicca. Beatles songs have been ringing in my head all week.
This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST. See his site here: http://www.stanslist.com Thanks Stan.
Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions.
Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, strange, historic and hip town of Salem, Massachusenutts.
And tip your bartenders and servers.
And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and I sometimes Feck up)
Today’s picture was taken Conemera, County Galway, at Kylemore Abbey, one of the more famous destinations for tourists.
Have a great week, Yeh Goats.
