Merry Runaround is at Seaport Café.

Scratch Kitchen has Digney Fignus Hosting Scratch Open Mic

Gulu Gulu has The Farewells

Finz is featuring American Beauties

Vics Station is hosting their weekly open mic with Nick Consone

Friday, June 1

You have to catch Dave Babcock rocking the airways at SSU’s WMWM, 91.7 on your radio and online from 4-7 each Friday. Give Dave a listen. Great start to the weekend

O’Neill’s has Irish Session from 6-9PM tonight and every Friday.

The weekly blues jam at In a Pigs Eye. Start time is around 4:15. Get there early cus this is very popular. The band can really get the room rocking and dancing.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The Lobster Shanty has their house band Vein tonight and every Friday night. Always a great show. Stop by for a listen. I hope we get another nice night to sit outside.

Brad Byrd Trio are at Finz tonight.

Seaport Cafe is featuring the debut (at Seaport) of Lydia Warren tonight. Lydia is well known in the blues circuit. I last heard her 2 years ago (Maybe 3) in Rockland, Maine, at the North Atlantic Blues Fest, a world class stage. The same weekend, she was playing a small art studio in Rockland, where she picked me out of the crowd because I had my Boston Blues Society shirt on. Sultry and easy on the eyes, she is my Pick of the Evening.

The popular nightspot Rockafellas has Mugsy tonight.  Always a fun place to kick it out on the dance floor. And they have outside seating if you need a quieter vibe.

The Black Lobster have Bush Pilots. This is a great place for a band, outside, on the beautiful, historic North River

Tonight, Gulu Gulu has the Engine Judy and Black.

Saturday, June 2

The Jackleg Preachers rock the house at Murphy’s today. Show starts early, around 4:15. This is a great music room and a great start to your Saturday evening. And Murphys has outside seating too. AND---- $2 Gansett on tap

O’Neill’s has Irish music from 6-9PM tonight and every Saturday.

Tearin' Up Jake return’s to In Pigs Eye tonight.

The Lobster Shanty has the lovely, talented Julie Dougherty tonight. Come on by for a listen.  Always a good show with Julie and this is the first time I’ve seen her scheduled here. Nice addition guys.

Seaport Café has Jazzport tonight, featuring the delightful Maureen Benson on vocals.

Black Lobster has the MSF Band.

Rockafellas has Midnight Goggles  for your dancing pleasure. Hmm.  Midnight Goggles.  I wonder what that means???

Sunday, June 3

Sunday/Funday is the weekly jam at Seaport Café, starting around 4:00. This week’s special guest is Rusty Scott.  This is my favorite show in town every week. Sometimes, late in the show, I’ve been known to give dancing lessons to ALL the lovely ladies.

O’neills has their weekly Irish Session starting around 4 today. Bring the kids. It’s that kind of show. And Guinness is Good for you.

Henley Douglas and friends finish you off at In a Pigs Eye tonight. Always a fun time with Henley.

And Black Lobster continue the summer series with Reggae tonight with those entertaining guys, Dis N Dat. YA MON!!!

Monday, June 4

Arnie Rose and Andrea Rupert perform at Greenland Café tonight.

In a Pigs Eye has Open Mic Night every Monday night, with a different host every week. Check it out. This week’s host is Julie Dougherty.

Wednesday, June 6 Every Wednesday, Rockafella’s hosts a Latin Salsa Dance Party. Come by at 8 and learn some moves. There is a paid admission for dance lessons but a great way to meet similar minded people. The party continues after 10 with you using all the moves you have learned. Again, bring your dancing shoes.

I want to mention some of the great shows you may have missed from last week. The weekly jam at In a Pigs Eye is an all time favorite for me and others. Lots of great talent play this gig. I’ve been introduced to so many great acts at this show. Put in on your calendar.

The Erinn Brown Trio played at 43 Church last Friday. Two beautiful ladies accompanied by the very energetic, talented and always fun Steve Peabody (PBD). I really like this band. Look for them playing around town.

Bird Mancini played their own brand of original and Beatles music at In a Pigs Eye last Saturday. While I was distracted by meeting some old friends, I always enjoy their unique sound. Don’t miss them next time they play here, about every other month.

Last week’s Sunday/Funday was a fundraiser for the family of the late Greg Shea, the much loved original owner of Seaport Café. It had a great turnout of musicians and lots of friends and family.  A fantastic jam. Miss you Greg.

Tuesday night was the return of the 7:58 comedy club at In a Pigs Eye. i love that comedy has a stage in salem and there was some really funny comics here. it only happens once a month (so far) so don't miss next months show. its a HOWL.

I want to give some credit here. This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST.COM and also LINDASLIST. Thanks Stan and Linda.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions.

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, hip town of Salem.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and  I sometimes mess up)

Hope to see you out there!

Today’s picture is a shot of an unknown young music fan, fascinated by the groove of Steve Peabody at last Sunday’s Sunday/Funday/Gregfest. You can just tell he was mesmerized. I LOVE seeing kids enjoying music.
