Weekend with the April Fools

this is my picks for entertainment in the coming week. hope you like it.

Have You Heard---

Just my opinion but I think the best bets for live music in Salem in the coming week---

Thursday, March 29  Seems like winter snuck back in. Don’t let that bother you.  Get out and hear some live music

Find out what's happening in Salemwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

is hosting the weekly Open Mic with Nick Consone.  Bring your instrument and show them what you got. I believe Nick is videotaping all performers so you can see what you really look like. YIKES!!!!

System Soul are at .

Hip Anonymous are at . Unique name.

is running an open mic also tonight, with Ray Zerkle hosting.

Beatles cover band Glass Onion perform tonight at . I’ve heard good things about these guys but haven’t seen them yet. Can’t be everywhere. I WILL hear them tonight.

Friday, March 30

The weekly acoustic blues jam at In a Pig's Eye. Start time is around 4:15. Always a big, fun loving crowd. Get there early. Every week brings a new surprise.

Clay Ventre and the Bond Girls will be at Greenland Café tonight.  This talented band really only has one “Bond Girl” but their jazzy mix is food for the ears.

O’Neill’s has Irish music from 6-9PM tonight and every Friday.  Come and get your IRISH on!!

Ditto  will be at 43 Church.

The Communicators are at my favorite room in town, Seaport Café. Haven’t heard these guys before but I’ll fix that tonight.

One of my absolute favorites, the beautiful Errin (2N) Brown is with Steve Peabody (PBD) tonight at Howling Wolf. PBD is an amazing percussionist, the best around. Sure to be a great show. My pick of the night

Saturday, March 31

The Jackleg Preachers are all electric at Murphy’s almost every Saturday. A lot of the same great performers you hear at The Pig from Friday, only amplified. Show starts early again, around 4:15. This is a great music room and a great take.

The Willows perform at Vics Boathouse. Don’t know for sure but the name hints they are a local band.

O’Neill’s has Irish music from 6-9PM tonight and every Saturday.

Andrew Gravel is at In a Pigs Eye tonight.  Always a fun night at the pig.  And the food is great and affordable.

Henley Douglas and the Cool Times Trio are playing at Howling Wolf tonight. Henley is my favorite sax player around and a genuine good guy. Pick of the night!!!

Sunday, April 1,   April Fools Day!!!!!!

The much anticipated return of The Lobster Shanty is today at noon. No music today but that doesn’t mean there’s no “entertainment”   This is a real sign that spring is here. All we need now is warm weather to return. This is my favorite place for a bite to drink. Yes, I wrote that correct.

Sunday/Funday is the weekly jam at Seaport Café, starting around 4:15,   Chris Fitz and Steve Peabody (PBD) and other guests are here to entertain you for this end of weekend spectacular. This is my favorite weekly show in town.  A wide variety of talented musicians perform here. Last week had Joe Mack as the special guest.  Sorry I had to miss that show but I was out of town all weekend. I make 95% of these Sunday/Fundays. Great crowd and always good music.

O’Neill’s runs an Irish Session every Sunday starting around 4ish. Bring the family because this is a kid-friendly event. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see some kid’s step dancing.

Monday, April 2

Tony Gallo is at Greenland Café tonight. Tony is a much talented vocalist. First heard him many years ago when Tony’s in Lynn used to have Friday afternoon jazz jam. No telling what style music he’ll play cus he can play anything. Tony is the lead singer with White Lightning

Wednesday, April 4 Every Wednesday, Rockafella’s hosts a Latin Salsa Dance Party. Come by at 8 and learn some moves. There is a paid admission for dance lessons but a great way to meet similar minded people. The party continues after 10 with you using all the moves you have learned. Again, bring your dancing shoes.

This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST and LINDASLIST . Thanks Stan and Linda.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions.

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music. We have it all here in Salem.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change.

Hope to see you out there!
