Have You Heard---

Just my opinion but I think the best bets for live music in Salem in the coming week.

Thursday, March 15  It’s the start of the ST. PATRICK'S WEEKEND!!!

Find out what's happening in Salemwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Head down to tonight and you will hear Groove Authority, a funky, soul and dance band. Sounds like fun to me. Dance the night away

is hosting the weekly open mic with Nick Consone.  Bring your instrument and show them what you got.

has System Soul for your listening pleasure.

, there is Matt McKay.

has Mike Mazok

Friday, March 16

The Jackleg Preachers perform their weekly acoustic blues jam at In a Pigs Eye. Start time is around 4:15.  Always a big, fun loving crowd. Get there early. Every week brings a new surprise musician

Later, Larry and the Bluescasters will be at . They have ome great music and a wide variety of interesting beers and wines as well as specialty cocktails. I like the sound of their drink “Dirty Sexy Dirty”

O’Neill’s has Irish music from 6-9PM tonight and every Friday. Seems appropriate this weekend. Come and get your IRISH on!!

Beatles cover band Glass Onion will be at 43 Church. I have been looking for an opportunity to hear these guys. I hear good things about them.

A great listening room, is hosting Three Toad Sloth tonight. If you haven’t been here, check out their dinner for two with an included bottle of wine. I think Thursday and Friday only but I’m probably wrong.

Howling wolf has Carl Johnson tonight

Saturday, March 17

The Jackleg Preachers are all electric at Murphy’s almost every Saturday. Expect a lot of the same great performers you hear at The Pig from Friday, only amplified. Show starts early again, around 4:15. This is a great music room and a great take.

The Jackleg Preachers move it on down to Vics Boathouse to finish the St. Paddys Day celebration. These guys are a lot of fun and are sure to make you move

O’Neill’s has Irish music from 6-9PM tonight and every Saturday. Should be a special evening, seeing that it’s an Irish holiday. (NO, IT’S NOT PAY DAY!!!) Remember, Guinness makes you strong!!!

Didn’t see them last year but Connor Shanhan comes highly recommended at Finz tonight. Apparently, last year’s show was kick A$$. I’m told not to miss this show. You heard it here.

Sunday, March 18

Sunday/Funday is the weekly jam at Seaport Café, starting around 4:15,   Chris Fitz and Steve Peabody (PBD) and other guests are here to entertain you for this end of weekend spectacular. This is my favorite weekly show in town. Bring your dancing shoes.

If you can take any more, O’Neill’s runs an Irish Session every Sunday starting around 4ish. Bring the family because this is a kid-friendly event. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see some kid’s step dancing.  Oh, me liver!!!!

 Monday, March 19

Julie Dougherty is at Greenland Café tonight to soothe your aching head, sore from a weekend of Irish celebration

 Wednesday, March 21

Every Wednesday, hosts a Latin Salsa Dance Party. Come by at 8 and learn some moves. There is a paid admission for dance lessons but a great way to meet similar minded people. The party continues after 10 with you using all the moves you have learned. Again, bring your dancing shoes.

I want to give some credit here. This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST.COM and also LINDASLIST. Thanks Stan and Linda.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions.

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change.

Hope to see you out there!  Sláinte!!!
