The very talented Tony Gallo is at Greenland Café. I first saw tony at Tony’s in Lynn many years ago, when they ran a jazz jam on Friday afternoons. Miss those days.

Scratch Kitchen has Elijah Clark.

Gulu Gulu is featuring Sierra and Andrew

Friday, May 18

Dave Babcock starts the weekend, rocking the airways at SSU’s WMWM, 91.7 on your radio and online from 4-7 each Friday. Give Dave a listen. And you can catch him entertaining the rowdy regulars at Lobster Shanty Tuesday evening and other shifts I can’t remember.

O’Neill’s has Irish music from 6-9PM tonight and every Friday.

The weekly blues jam at In a Pigs Eye. Start time is around 4:15.  Get there early cus this is very popular. Always a good time.

Howling Wolf is featuring The Tokyo Tramps.

The Lobster Shanty has their house band Vein tonight and every Friday night. Always a great show. Stop by for a listen. It’s going to be another nice night to sit outside. Not sure if I ever mentioned it but I Love This Place!!!

Savage Tanners are at Finz tonight.

Seaport Cafe has the Psychedelic Relics tonight. (I think I had a flashback just spelling that name)

The popular nightspot Rockafellas has Another Shot tonight. Always a fun place to kick it out on the dance floor. And they have outside seating if you need a quieter vibe.

Finz is spotlighting Savage Tanners tonight.

The long awaited return of live music at The Black Lobster is tonight when Bush Pilots are in the house for your dining and dancing pleasure. This is another outside venue, weather permitting, and it will be tonight. Welcome back guys. I missed you.

The elegant 43 Church has The Johnny Ray Band performing tonight

Saturday, May 19

The Jackleg Preachers rock the house at Murphy’s today. Show starts early, around 4:15. This is a great music room and a great start to your Saturday evening.

O’Neill’s has Irish music from 6-9PM tonight and every Saturday.

Jen and Henry, of Aloud are at In Pigs Eye tonight.

The Lobster Shanty has the debut (at this venue) of the fabulous Dejas. I really love these guys. I’m starting to see them playing more places in town and that’s nothing but good. Come on by for a listen. If you can believe the forecast, it will be a great night to listen outside. My Pick of the Night!!!

Clay Ventre and the Bond Girls are at Howling Wolf tonight. Great food and a full bar for your dining and dancing fun. This has become a very popular venue

Seaport Café has the hard working 12:01 Blues Band tonight. You may know I’m a blues fan and I’m a fan of this great band.

The Jackleg Preachers are also playing tonight, at Vic’s Boathouse. These guys are everywhere, but always a good choice. And what a location Vic’s is. Stunning view from here.

Sunday, May 20

Sunday/Funday is the weekly jam at Seaport Café, starting around 4:15. Steve Peabody (PBD), Chris Fitz and guests are here to entertain you for this end of weekend spectacular. This is my favorite weekly show.  This week’s special guest is the extremely fun and talented Evan Goodrow. I like this guy so much, I followed him down to Memphis to support his band in the International Blues Challenge a few years back. I was traveling with my sons and some friends from N.C. for the competition. Talk about a lost weekend. The ladies also like Evan, which is always a good thing for the guys. The great weather is expected to continue so if it’s crowded as I expect, there is also outside seating, and you can still see and hear the band. And the food is great here.

O’neills has their weekly Irish Session starting around 4 today. Bring the kids. It’s that kind of show. And Guinness is Great.

Uke Joint are at In a Pigs Eye tonight.

Howling Wolf has Steve Spungin in the house

And Vic’s Boathouse has Ross Livermore and Paul Dumas tonight. I hear good things about this band but I’ve yet to hear them. Maybe tonight----

Monday, May 21

The lovely Julie Dougherty performs at Greenland Café tonight.  I can’t get enough of julie’s music. A great way to start the week.

In a Pigs Eye has Open Mic Night every Monday night, with a different host every week. Check it out. This week’s host is Orville Giddings

Wednesday, May 23

Every Wednesday, Rockafella’s hosts a Latin Salsa Dance Party. Come by at 8 and learn some moves. There is a paid admission for dance lessons but a great way to meet similar minded people. The party continues after 10 with you using all the moves you have learned. Again, bring your dancing shoes.

Diane Blue with Roberto Morbioli are at In a Pigs Eye tonight.

I want to give some credit here. This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST.COM and also LINDASLIST. Thanks Stan and Linda.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions.

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, hip town of Salem.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and  I sometimes mess up)

Hope to see you out there!

Today’s picture is a shot of the incredible Sarah Seminski, belting out a song last week at In a Pigs Eye, while performing with Vanilla Mavelope. If you havn’t heard her yet, you’ve got to check her out with ‘Manvelope and also Big Ole Dirty Bucket. Catch her soon cus she’s going places. You heard it here.
