JFK was assassinated in 1963. I was in 5th grade.

As has been the case, when the first of the month comes around, some venues are not keeping ahead with their calendars. How can we plan our debauchery if we don’t know where it’s at?

Wednesday, November 28

In a Pigs Eye has Grateful Ted and Pete Tentindo

Rockafellas has Latin Dance Party. This is actually better than It may sound if you are a voyeur like myself.

The Session, featuring The Dejas are down at 43 Church, as they are almost every Thursday.

Scratch Kitchen has Brendan Ahern

Brian Cogger and Friends are putting it down at In a Pigs Eye

System Soul is at Howling Wolf

Brodies Seaport Café has Jeff Buckridge and Megan Mckenzie.  I’ve seen these guys a few times now and they are fantastic talents.

Mei Ohara performs at the very cool room, Gulu Gulu. Or is that Glug Glug

Friday, November 30

Howling Wolf has North Shore Acoustic Duo.

The Weekly Blues Jam at In a Pigs Eye is at 4PM. I say it all the time but this is a great show with great friends. If you haven’t caught it, come on down and enjoy. Run’s 4:15ish to 7:15ish

Also, tonight, at 9PM at In a Pigs Eye, The Jackleg Preachers take the stage for a fun rockin show. I hear tonight’s featured guest might be John Devine

The Lobster Shanty has their house band Vein tonight and every Friday night. They did a great show last week at In a Pigs Eye. (as I remember)

Rockafellas has Open Bar Band. I love that name.

The calendar is repaired at The Village Tavern and tonight’s cool band is Cool Change. I’m telling you, you need to check this place out.

Tonight, Gulu Gulu has Landform (AKA: Eric Landers)

Sturdy Moss are playing at Finz.

43 Church has Qwill with the Soul Review Project

Brodies Seaport Café is featuring the 12:01 Blues Band

Saturday, December 1.

First of the month. This is the point where it’s hard to guess who’s playing where. You just need to call the venues if they are not listed here. This is what I do know.

Gulu Gulu has Fishing The Sky tonight.

43 Church has The Erinn Brown Band. Some people approached me last week when I admitted to copy and paste this blog, leaving some info about Erinn from a prior week. I guess it caused some confusion. Let me be clear. I Love the Erinn Brown Band

The Lobster Shanty has The Bordellow’s which contains some members from The Willows

The Village Tavern is showing Cool Change 2 nights in a row. You gotta love that.

Rockafellas has Leaving Edan.

Brodies Seaport Café has 3-Ply.

Sunday, December 2

Sunday/Funday is the weekly jam at Brodie’s Seaport Café, starting around 4:15. This weekly event, hosted by the amazing Steve Peabody (PBD) and Chris Fitz is always my Pick of the Afternoon. This week’s special guest is Mr. Nick.

O’Neill’s has their weekly Irish Session starting around 4 today. Bring the kids. It’s that kind of show. Ok, I’ve been back to this the past 2 weeks and am remembering it’s hardly out of the way. I need to put it back on my route. And I need to practice my Irish. They have Harp on tap.

I’m guessing Steve Spungin is the featured artist at Howling Wolf tonight and it seems, every Sunday.

Cap’ts has Jazz Brunch at noon. Peter Kostopolous is on the bill.

Shows you may have missed:

Last Tuesday, John Andrews and Social Palates hosted a fund raiser for Hurricane Sandy relief. Featured musicians were Ross Livermore and a special guest Jacyn Tremblay. I had met Jacyn before but never heard her sing. That girl ROCKS!!!!

That same evening, the always amazing Big Ol Dirty Bucket took the stage and tore down the house. Catch these guys while you can so you can say “I saw them when----“  I just love hearing Sara Seminski too. More on that later.

Ok, now it’s later. I was at the weekly jam at In a Pigs Eye last Friday. You know I love the show. After the break I see Sara Seminski in the crowd. She took the stage and the house went WILD!!!! She put on the most AMAZING show I have ever seen there. The word is Historic. WE LOVE YOU SARA!!!!! Also with Sara and from “Bucket” was Fle Funk on Sax. I think Fle is the newest member of the band and he is working out just fine. I hope you guys come back soon.

I didn’t plan to start my evening so early but Pam was out with the ladies, Megan and Terri,  “shopping” Saturday and were now relaxing at Finz, and invited me down. We were soon joined by my son Keith and also John Jameson. I had planned to see/hear Vein later but didn’t expect to “PRE-GAME” Before things got too out of hand, I know Vein put on a great show. As always, they played my request “Sooner or Later” and another great song from Lou Reed, “Walk on the Wild Side.”

This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST. See his site here:  http://www.stanslist.com  Thanks Stan.

Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions.

Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, strange, hip town of Salem.

And tip your bartenders and servers.

And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and I sometimes mess up)

Hope to see you out there!

This week’s picture, I don’t mean to keep putting up pictures of myself but it’s fitting, seeing who else is in the picture, the amazing Sara Seminski. I usually use my own pictures but this one was taken by John Andrews, owner of Social Palates. Great picture John. Thanks
