Out of town: Some picks from around the area this weekend
Tonight, Thursday, Capones in Peabody is hosting their weekly Blues Jam with Lee Hawkins from 8-11PM. We got to go to this sometime, John.
Tomorrow, Friday, Jim and Roze are hosting what I think is the 4th monthly dance jam at the Nahant Country Club. Admission is free and open to the public. And there is plenty of free parking, not common in Nahant. 5-9PM
Sunday at Celly’s on Western Ave (Rt 107) in Lynn, Joe Mack hosts a blues jam every Sunday evening. Not sure of the time but it’s after Sunday/Funday at Brodies
My picks in the coming week:
Well, of course the Friday jam at In a Pigs Eye is a possibility. And you can follow that by just walking down the street to hear the lovely Julie Dougherty at Brodies.
Saturday, you have Erinn (2N) Brown over at Howling Wolf. It’s been too long since I’ve heard her lovely voice.
Sunday/Funday, my personal favorite show that happens every week at Brodies. This week really is something, with Jim and Roze as special guests. And, as always, the ever entertaining PBD and Chris Fitz at the helm.
Pam and I are hoping that we will be the first customers of the year, 2 years running, at my favorite dive bar, The Lobster Shanty, when they open for the season Tuesday at noon. Pam is taking the afternoon off from work, a good plan. And I happen to have the day off too. Forecast calls for partly cloudy and 51 degrees. Spring is here.
Some interesting happenings out of town this weekend but beware--- State Police have announced they will be setting up sobriety checkpoints throughout the state. TAKE A CAB!!!!
Have fun and hope to see ya out there.
This list was put together with much help from STANSLIST. See his site here: http://www.stanslist.com Thanks Stan.
Please excuse any incorrect spelling and omissions. But sometimes I make up words too, CORDWANGERS!!!
Go out and listen to some great LIVE music in the wonderful, strange, historic and hip town of Salem, Massachusenutts.
And tip your bartenders and servers.
And always check with the venue as times and schedules change. (and I sometimes Feck up)
