What the Heck is a Kiss and Ride Zone?

Wondering what those Kiss and Ride Zone signs are all about? You're not alone.

You may have noticed signs near the North Street overpass warning motorists about the beginning and end of a "Kiss and Ride Zone."

No, this doesn't mean you have to smooch one of your passengers.

The “Kiss-and-ride” zones are being provided to commuters while the MBTA parking lot is closed. The zone is located in a lane along the north-bound side of Bridge Street and the Bridge Street overpass ramp onto North Street/Route 114.

Pedestrians exiting vehicles from those locations have quick and safe access to the two pedestrian entrances to the station site. The lanes are separated from traffic by jersey barriers and a police detail will be present at times for the initial days of its operation.

The taxi stand has been relocated to the northwest corner of Federal and Washington Street.
