Haven from Hunger Purchases Moose Lodge, Plans Renovations

The Peabody nonprofit is undergoing a capital campaign to raise money for the effort.

With greater demand to feed those less fortunate, Haven from Hunger of Peabody recently purchased the Moose Lodge on Wallis Street.

The Salem News reported that the nonprofit has been in the lodge’s basement for 26 years, but purchased the building from the Jordan Masonic Temple Trust in February and plans to make renovations and offer more programs.

Haven from Hunger paid $442,000 for the building and renovations are expected to cost about $1 million. The City of Peabody provided $200,000 as part of a community development grant. The renovations are expected to take 18 months, reported the Salem News.
