Let's chEAT!

Cheat Day

Starting a diet usually means that you have to take foods out of your daily food intake that you love to eat but you know are not good for you. However, going on a diet does not mean that you can’t keep eating these foods every once in a while.

When we start a diet, we see it as a chore; something else we have to take responsibility for during the week.  It adds to your already long list of things to do which might include: work, housekeeping, working out, going to school, watching the kids, etc.  It is likely though that you have at least one day of the week (probably the weekend) where you set all of those things aside and relax.

You can do the same thing with your diet.  After spending six days of the week eating healthy, following your diet by the book and missing out on the grease and sweets, you need to indulge in one of those foods as a way relax and prepare yourself for the next week of dieting.  So if you’ve been laying off that sausage, egg and cheese and the “caramel iced coffee with extra cream and sugar” from Dunkin Donuts on the way to work all week, take one day on the weekend and just get it and enjoy! There is nothing wrong with a cheat day, we all need to keep our sanity. You are still eating healthier than you were before the diet and you are still well on your way to making yourself a better, healthier, you.
